Seychelles named one of the coolest destinations to watch out for in 2018 by National Geographic Traveller

Seychelles has made the National Geographic Traveller’s ‘Cool List 2018.’

This was revealed on the travel magazine’s website on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.

“We reveal the coolest haunts, the hippest hangouts, the bucket list breaks and the enthralling escapes,” said National Geographic Traveller.

The 18 destinations, which the travel magazine said are set to make it big in 2018, range from the cities of Bristol in the United Kingdom and Buenos Aires in Argentina to countries like Sri Lanka and Singapore.

The Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Sherin Francis, was among the panelists at the Condé Nast Traveller’s luxury forum.

The forum themed ‘Luxury Travel 2.0: Back to the Future’ was held at the Yas Viceroy Hotel in Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday December 13, 2017.

The Condé Nast Traveller luxury forum is a gathering of luxury lifestyle and travel industry professionals. The panel discussions provided a platform for industry professionals to network and exchange ideas on luxury travel trends and development.

Seychelles named the Favourite Beach/Island Destination by Condé Nast Traveller Readers

Seychelles scooped the Favourite Beach/Island Destination accolade at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice awards 2017.

The award was presented to the Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Sherin Francis, and Manager of the Seychelles Tourism Board office in Dubai, Ahmed Fathallah.

This was during a ceremony held at the Yas Viceroy Hotel in Abu Dhabi, in the evening of Wednesday December 13, 2017.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the travel & hospitality sector, media influencers, and other corporate industries.

Seychelles explores energy efficiency in the tourism sector with the help of experts from the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba

Seychelles is hosting a training workshop on sustainable tourism, with a particular focus on energy efficiency.

The two and a half day workshop hosted by the Tourism Department was officially opened on Wednesday December 13, 2017, at the Coral Strand Smart Choice Hotel at Beau Vallon.

Two experts from the Netherlands organisation for applied scientific research (TNO) – Juan Avellaner and Alba Camacho -- are facilitating the workshop.

Seychelles Tourism Board boosts knowledge of travel agents at the Travel Trade Roadshow in the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

The Seychelles Tourism Board, which strongly believes that the continuous training of travel agents working to sell the destination is a key and more cost-effective marketing tool has once again taken part in the Travel Trade Roadshow (TTR) Baltic.

The roadshow took place in each of the three Baltic countries – Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

The 2017 edition of TTR Baltic was held from November 14 to 16, 2017, in the capital cities of Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. The Seychelles Tourism Board was represented by Senior Marketing Executive, Amia Jovanovic-Desir.

Fourth edition of the Seychelles Regatta set for 2018

The Seychelles Regatta -- a sailing competition designed to take place in a relaxed atmosphere -- returns to the island nation’s shores in 2018.

This was announced by the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, during a press conference on Monday December 11, 2017.

The Seychelles Tourism Board’s Chief Executive, Sherin Francis, Director for Europe, Bernadette Willemin and Chairman of the Seychelles Yachting Association, Alain Alcindor, were also in attendance.
