Twenty-three prospective tour guides obtain competency certificates following three-day training at the Seychelles Tourism Academy

Twenty-three individuals have completed a basic course in tour guiding, organized by the Department of Tourism and the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA).

The group received their certificate of competency from the hands of the Principal Secretary for Tourism, Anne Lafortune.

This was in a short ceremony at the Department’s headquarters at Botanical House, Mont Fleuri, on Friday November 17, 2017.

Tourism Minister welcomes news that Club Med is taking over the Beachcomber Seychelles Sainte Anne Resort & Spa

The New Mauritius Hotels Ltd, which owns 100 percent of the shares of Ste Anne Resort Ltd, has signed an agreement with the French Group, Club Med, for the redevelopment and subsequent rental of Beachcomber Seychelles Sainte Anne Resort & Spa.

The agreement was signed on Friday November 10, 2017.

The Beachcomber brand expanded beyond the shores of Mauritius to Seychelles in 2001, where New Mauritius Hotels operated the 87-room Beachcomber Seychelles Sainte Anne Resort & Spa.

Seychelles Tourism Board CEO attends exclusive media networking event on the sideline of WTM London

The Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Sherin Francis used her working trip attending the 2017 World Travel Market (WTM) in London, to further position Seychelles as a tourist destination in the UK.

Mrs Francis, accompanied by the STB Director for UK and Ireland, Christine Vel, met with representatives of several influential media from a range of UK outlets.

This was during an exclusive UK media breakfast event, held at the St James’s Hotel & Club in Mayfair, in the heart of London, on Thursday November 9, 2017.

The Enchanted Island Resort situated on Round Island is extending its brand on Mahé. A new development dubbed the Enchanted Waterfront project was officially unveiled on Thursday November 16, 2017, in a cocktail event on Round Island.

This was in the presence of the Shah family, a Seychellois family of Indian origins, who owns the Enchanted Island Resort, representatives of JA Resorts and Hotels -- the Dubai-based group that manages the island resort, the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, other government officials, stakeholders in the tourism industry, as well as friends of the family.

Seychelles tourism minister hears the concerns of tourism stakeholders

Seychelles’ tourism minister hears the concerns of tourism stakeholders on Praslin, pledges immediate actions to tackle crimes against visitors

The Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne attended a meeting that brought together hoteliers and other tourism business owners on Praslin.

The meeting, aimed at tackling criminal acts against visitors on the island, was held at the Paradise Sun Hotel at Cote D’Or, on Friday November 10, 2017.

It was also attended by the Commissioner of Police, Kishnan Labonte and other senior police officers.

The meeting was requested a month ago by the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA), following an increase in thefts and acts of violence against tourists, including a recent attack on an Austrian couple.

All stakeholders present expressed concern vis-à-vis the situation considering the negative impact such incidents can have on the tourism industry, which is the pillar of the Seychelles economy.
